a compilation of times Ben Wyatt Was Hung By The Neck Of His Feelings Until Dead.
how Ann looks at Leslie
how Ann looks at Leslie
Just watch this.
When the clip starts, Ann’s head is in her hands, she is crushed. She is barely holding herself together and she can’t look at Leslie and she can’t look at anything and everything is terrible, and then Leslie comes in.
Leslie makes her feel better.
She talks and talks and talks and tells goofy story after goofy story until Ann is sitting up, and listening, and looking at her, and by the end she’s smiling and laughing and she’s okay again.
AND THEIRS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP ON TELEVISION.

ALL KISSING ALL THE TIME.
“That was amazing. That was a flu-ridden Michael Jordan at the ‘97 NBA Finals. That was Kirk Gibson hobbling up to the plate and hitting a homer off of Dennis Eckersley. That was… That was Leslie Knope.”
Remember how the Office was all about the pathetic and painful existence of Michael Scott and how half the show was devoted into embarrassing us, the audience, with every single one of his stupid little fuckups and then remember how this show was about how amazing and inspiring its leading lady is and how everybody gets onboard (especially fascist hardasses named Ben) and everything is awesome forever?
One of the reasons I adore Leslie in Jerry’s Painting so much is just this flawless success in single episode character arc. Leslie was feeling so crappy at the beginning of the episode, liking Ben so much and not being able to do anything about it, literally listening to Chris set him up with another woman while she had to stand there. And one painting skyrocketed her to this mega-confidence, where she knows she’s a powerful woman and she can absolutely get what she wants. And even if she doesn’t necessarily go after Ben, she flaunts herself around him because she can, and she starts bending rules. It was this perfect set-up for her to eventually, several episodes later, come to the conclusion that Ben is worth breaking rules. But so much happened in just this one episode, and Leslie has always been confident but she just found this really feminine, empowering side that carried over into the following episodes so nicely. She still wore her suits but her shirts were more outgoing, she’s stood up for herself and Pawnee even more forcefully, and basically her character arc in general is flawless and I love how much she grows and learns in every season, and how she continues to be stronger willed.
